A Good Day:  It Cost$ When You Have Chronic Illness.

I remember when I participated in activities of my choice at will. Those days seem so long ago. Now, an active or semi active day, results in time in bed. My active days result in unfathomable fatigue and pain. Recovery time is typically 2-3 days. Special occasions, errands, etc.-are not what they used to be. It is extremely difficult to be spontaneous when you are Chronically Ill. This is typically difficult for healthy people to understand.

What does this mean for those of us who are fighting the war against Chronic Illness? It means we need to listen to our bodies, and honor our limits at times. I tend to ask myself, “Is this activity worth being bedridden for days?” The answer is usually no, therefore, I don’t have a very busy social life. Errands, kids, housework and the like are facts of life. Life doesn’t stop when you are Chronically Ill. It gets about a million times more difficult. This being said, I continue to enjoy certain hobbies such as makeup, reading, and blogging-to name a few. It is important that those of us who are chronically ill do not let illness extinguish our passions. I know it is difficult, that is why we are Warriors. “Life has a funny way of sneaking up on you.”-Alanis Morissette, Ironic 😳

  1. I’m glad that despite your chronic illness, you still have your hobbies and take care of your every day responsibilities. That only proves just how strong you are :). BTW: I love Alanis Morissette!
